Western Australian star Maddison Hinson-Tolchard has stormed into the Girls’ Junior Amateur lead after a six-under-par 67 at Royal Perth Golf Club on Thursday.
The Gosnells product struck six birdies and went bogey-free throughout her superb round that sees her two shots clear of defending champion Grace Kim.
The New South Wales youngster was equally impressive during the difficult conditions, shooting a four-under-par 69, while June Song sits a further two shots back after a 67.
Hinson-Tolchard, 16, was outstanding on her back nine to record 33, giving her a realistic chance of a first national order of merit title.
The WA Junior Girls’ captain was delighted with her round, moving herself into the biggest day of her short career tomorrow.
“That is the second best score I have ever had, so I am really happy with how today went,” Hinson-Tolchard said.
“It has been a great confidence booster for sure and I am really looking forward to tomorrow.”
The girls’ will face 36 holes tomorrow at Royal Perth, with the local talent just excited to get back out there and play again.
“Definitely, tomorrow is more of a marathon. I am just going to keep doing what I have been doing and stick to my game plan.”
“It would be amazing to win, but I am not going too get to far ahead of myself.”
