Brady Watt has qualified for the US Open in sectional qualifying overnight at the Colonial Golf Club in Tennessee.
Watt will join fellow West Aussie Oliver Goss at Pinehurst Golf Club who qualified thanks to finishing as a finalist at the at the US Amateur last year, where he defeated Watt in the Semi-Final.
After an opening round of 70 on the North Course, Watt’s second round of 67 was enough to put him in a tie with five other golfers for the remaining two spots. A birdie on the first playoff hole gave Watt the first of the two places.
Rod Pampling, Aaron Baddeley, Robert Allenby and Aron Price also earned a place at the US Open overnight. They will join Watt and Goss, as well as Adam Scott, Jason Day, John Senden and Matt Jones to give Australia 11 representatives at the tournament.
