WANTED: women’s and juniors’ golf clubs to support regional golf

13th Nov 2024

GolfWA is seeking donations of women’s and juniors’ golf clubs in order to provide more pathways into the sport at regional level.

Sticks for the Stix is a GolfWA initiative that invites members of metropolitan clubs to donate pre-used clubs and equipment, which are then passed on to increase participation rates at regional clubs across WA.

The campaign enjoyed great support in 2024, with members from Lake Karrinyup, Royal Perth, Melville Glades, Royal Fremantle and The Cut donating tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of kit.

Women and juniors are still under-represented in regional golf, however, so if you have any suitable sets of clubs gathering dust, please consider committing them to the cause!

Brett Symons, GolfWA’s Regional Club Support Officer for the South West region, says every donation makes a difference.

“A lack of access to quality golf clubs and equipment is a significant barrier to people getting into golf in regional areas,” he said.

“This is particularly true for women and juniors, as well as left-handers, so if anyone can contribute unused sets they will be very gratefully accepted and put to very good use.”

If you’re in a position to support this initiative, please email Brett Symons directly.
