Ladies European Tour members Whitney Hillier and Klara Davidson Spilkova (pictured) will headline a team of pros who’ll take on the GolfWA state players at Melville Glades on Sunday.
In preparation for the upcoming Junior and Open-Age Interstate Teams Matches, WA’s state representatives will go head-to-head with a lineup of PGA professionals, trainees and special invites to give their games a thorough going over.
The match play contest was previously an annual fixture on the calendar but has not been played since 2018, when the PGA team ran out comfortable winners.
In a coup for the event, former WA state player Whitney Hillier has confirmed her involvement as she continues her comeback from complications caused by Long COVID.
She is joined on the professionals team by Klara Davidson Spilkova, the 30-year-old who has won two titles on the LET and represented the Czech Republic at the 2024 Olympic Games.
Marc Pike, GolfWA’s Game Development & High Performance Manager who organised the event, says it’s a golden opportunity for the WA state team to measure where their games are heading into a crucial part of the season.
“We’re delighted to be bringing this competition back onto the calendar and hope it remains an annual fixture for years to come,” he said.
“It’s a great opportunity for out state team players to gain high-level match play experience and perform under pressure in a team format that will mirror conditions they will face in the upcoming interstate series.”
Additional team-members to be added to the PGA lineup before Sunday’s showdown. The match will take place from 12.18pm onwards at Melville Glades GC on Sunday, March 30. Spectators are welcome to attend.
