After 5 days of competition, the 2019 School Sport Australia 18 & under golf championships have come to a close at The Cut Golf Course in Mandurah.
Picture-perfect conditions greeted students earlier in the week at Mandurah Country Club for the 36-hole strokeplay competition where WA finished with a bronze medal in the boys’ team event.
Aaron Hall took home Boys Individual runner up nett with Ai Leng Lee winning the Girls Individual nett, continuing WA’s domination of this trophy.
The match play rounds of the tournament were held at Meadow Springs Country Club and The Cut Golf Course. The WA girls’ team finished 5th in a closely run competition that saw South Australia take out the title. Following 4 wins out of 5 matches our boys’ team could not be separated from their NSW counterparts and had to settle for a share of 1st place and the gold medals.
Aaron Hall finished off his great week of golf with selection in the 6-man All Australian team, a select group of players whose performance across the tournament was exceptional.
Congratulations to all 12 of the Western Australian players for their efforts this week. Thanks also to team managers Sue Thomson and Adam Smith for their hard work and dedication.
This national event wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the City of Mandurah, Mandurah Country Club, Meadow Springs Country Club, The Cut Golf Course and School Sport WA.
