Mount Lawley Golf Club will stage the WA Open for the 11th time when it returns to hosting duties in October 2025.
Extensive renovations have kept Mount Lawley off the WA Open roster in recent years. However, with this work set to be complete in early 2025, the course will be in prime condition to host the 101st staging of the historic championship.
Gary Thomas, Chief Executive of GolfWA, said: “We’re delighted that the WA Open will return to Mount Lawley Golf Club in 2025. It is always a superb test of golf and we ‘re excited to see how Australia’s top golfers tackle the revamped layout, which we have heard will be spectacular.”
Mount Lawley’s General Manager, Troy O’Hern, added: “We’re very pleased to be hosting the 2025 WA Open. The club is in the final stage of its major course redevelopment, with all green complexes, fairway bunkers and practice facilities redesigned by OCM Golf Course Architects.
“We look forward to presenting and showcasing a world-class golf course to some of Australia’s best professional and amateur golfers.”
The WA Open was first held at Mount Lawley in 1948, when it was won by New South Welshman Ossie Pickworth. Other notable champions from WA Opens at Mount Lawley include Gary Player (1956), Terry Gale (1982) and Stephen Leaney (1997).
The championship was most recently staged at the club in 2018, when it was won by Victorian amateur Zach Murray.
The 101st WA Open will take place at Mount Lawley Golf Club next October. Dates will be confirmed when the Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia schedule is finalised in mid-2025.
