Scoring was at a premium during round two of the Drummond Golf 54-Hole Junior Classic as the overnight leaders tightened their grip on the championship at Dunsborough Lakes Golf Club on Thursday.
For a second straight day conditions were perfect for golf as players were treated to a slightly shortened layout, hitting from the white tee markers during the second round.
Jordan Jung was simply brilliant from a boys perspective, carding a five-under-par 67 to maintain his two-shot lead over the in-form Hayden Hopewell.
Jung enjoyed the shortened course at the Lakes, as he fired six birdies throughout his second round, with the only blemish coming at the par-four last.
Hopewell is well within touching distance after shooting a nearly identical round to his compatriot – six birdies and a bogey- with his dropped shot also coming on the 18th.
Zane Lewis pulled his score back with a second round 68 to be six behind the leader, while Josh Herrero takes up fourth position after an even-par 72.
If Jung can hold off his teammates it will cap off a terrific six months for the youngster after placing second at the Australian Amateur earlier in the year.
Kathryn Norris wants to make history in the southwest this year; currently the 17-year old is well on track for that milestone.
Norris will take a four shot lead into the final round at Busselton Golf Club tomorrow, with a win meaning the star will hold the Callaway Junior, 54-Hole Classic and WA Junior Amateur collectively.
Abbie Teasdale seems the most likely to take down Norris, with the WA Amateur Champion staying in the competition with a two-over 74.
Five bogeys proved the downfall for Teasdale as she hunts her second major title of 2018.
Pantita Amie Phobubpa was impressive around the Dunsborough complex racing up the leader board with a one-over-par 73 on day two.
Celine Chen rounds out the top four.
An 8.00am shotgun start will begin the final round at Busselton Golf Club tomorrow.
