Jack Anderson, Matteo Cottino and Mathew Walker dovetailed superbly to carry the Christian Brothers College 2 team to victory in the Secondary School Championship.
On a glorious winter’s day at Gosnells Golf Club, the Fremantle-based trio (pictured above) rose to the top of the standings thanks in no small measure to Walker’s 49-point Stableford haul.
With the best two scores from each team counting towards the total, Walker’s heroics helped CBC 2 to an 83-point total that left them six points clear of the CBC 1 team of Jaxon Dawkins, Joe Elder and Zac Sparks. The Trinity College 1 threesome of Chris Candeias, Judd Ingleton and Rhys DeCelis finished third, just one point further back.
There was also an overall gross category, which was won by Kingsway Christian College’s Ollie Marsh, Zach Nayar and Ronan Nayar.
Overall, there were more than 100 competitors aged between 13-17 representing more than 30 schools in the School Sport WA and GolfWA co-sanctioned championship.
Jordan McSkimming, Junior Golf Development Officer at GolfWA, said: “This event is all about bringing the secondary school golfing community together and having a good time, as well as providing a high-level competitive golf experience for players of varying abilities.
“I commend all our players for the spirit the event was played in. They helped make this a great celebration of junior golf.”
