WA’s Peter Bennett will make his Australian international debut in the Asia-Pacific Senior Amateur Championship in Vietnam later this month.
The Royal Perth member (pictured above) received the call-up after a strong season that saw him rack up six top-10 finishes in national Senior Order of Merit events.
He is joined in the men’s team by fellow debutant David Gannon (NSW), who leads the Order of Merit, 2022 WA Men’s Senior Amateur champion Ken Brewer (NSW) and Brad Dowling (QLD).
The women’s team will have the top three from last year’s championship – Sue Wooster, Gemma Dooley and Louise Mullard – all competing again. Mullard comes in as a late replacement for national senior champion Nadene Gole, who withdrew.
Australia made a clean sweep of things in the 2023 championships, winning the men’s, women’s and combined team titles, while Wooster and James Lavender won the individual championships.
The event is being held at Vinpearl Golf Hai Phong, Vietnam, from October 30.
