Secret Harbour Golf Links’ Tom Tristram was the big winner at the 2024 National Turf Industry Awards, bringing home the ASTMA Excellence in Golf Course Management Award.

Tristram, the course Superintendent at Secret Harbour, fended off a strong field of finalists from across the country to become WA’s ninth winner in the award’s 35-year history. Other recent WA successes include 2022 winner Lance Knox (Busselton GC) and 2019 winner Jon Carter (Wanneroo GC).

In accepting the award, Tristram thanked his team for their efforts in helping to deliver the conditions that Secret Harbour is currently renowned for.

“I’m really honoured to receive this award,” Tristram told the 300+ audience at Brisbane’s Convention & Exhibition Centre. “I have a really good team and I wouldn’t be here without them. They support me everywhere and have helped us to achieve a lot during my time at Secret Harbour.”

Tristram began his career in the golf industry 10 years ago and became Superintendent at Secret Harbour at the age of 25. Under his leadership, the course has benefitted from several significant renovations and infrastructure upgrades, as well as major works to alleviate safety and boundary issues in the surrounding residential community.

His excellence was also recognised earlier this year at the WA Golf Industry Awards, where he won the Superintendent of the Year Award, while Secret Harbour is routinely considered to be amongst the top 100 golf courses in Australia.
