Mount Lawley Golf Club spread the word about the benefits of golf at the Every Woman Expo in Perth – with their booth a hub of activity across the weekend.
There were more than 250 exhibitors at the Perth Convention Centre event, but few had as eye-catching a presence as Mount Lawley’s expo space, which came complete with comfortable seating, a putting mat and a huge artificial tree to help it stand out.
Manned by both staff and members – including leading state amateurs Sophie Williams, Alice Tonts and Christian Nicholls – the Mount Lawley team captured hearts and minds as they promoted not only women’s membership options at the club, but also the wider benefits of golf in all its forms.
“It was a very positive experience and we had a lot of great conversations throughout the weekend,” said Michelle Miller, Mount Lawley’s Membership & Communications Manager.
“As well as raising awareness of women’s membership options at the club, we were just trying to show that golf is fun and not something women should be scared of trying!”
The club reports that hundreds of women visited them during the expo and that they amassed a considerable database of those interested in getting into golf more seriously.
Their plan now is to follow up on this interest by inviting the women to the club to be shown the clubhouse and facilities, and deliver some putting and driving guidance via the club’s accredited Community Instructors.
A prize draw will also see the club give away free golf lessons and a state-of-the-art putter to four of the attendees.
“Mount Lawley Golf Club feels that this was a very valuable exercise and would happily participate again as a way of reaching a new audience that might not have ever visited a golf club or course,” Michelle added.
