GolfWA has appointed Arron Minchin in the newly created role of Government Relations Manager.
An executive with over 20 years’ experience across private, state and local government sectors, Minchin (pictured above) has held high-level roles at BHP, BCI Minerals, the City of Karratha, Department of Sport and Recreation, and Goldfields Esperance Development Commission amongst many others.
In his role, Minchin will engage with all levels of government through advocacy and influence with the aim of maximising opportunities in the areas of facilities, tourism, events, environment and health.
As well as strengthening stakeholder relationships and building the profile of golf using evidence and storytelling, he will also focus on identifying relevant grant opportunities to clubs and assisting them in matters that may require discussions with local government.
On his hopes for the role, Minchin said: “I am very excited to be back in the sports sector, particularly with such a highly regarded and loved sport as golf.
“I look forward to working with our government agencies to ensure as many people as possible have the chance to participate in and enjoy golf.”
Gary Thomas, Chief Executive of GolfWA, added: “Given Arron’s extensive experience in government relations, there is no doubt he will be a great addition to the GolfWA team.”
Clubs seeking advice from Arron should contact him via email or call 0447 890 415.
