The 2021 Regional Seniors wrapped up on Friday after two rounds of stableford play at the Manjimup Country Club. Players recovered after a late night of celebrations, fun and dancing at the dinner on Thursday night to play out a thrilling and overall skilful second day. The event saw over 160 women completing over two rounds in two separate fields and competitions with the perpetual trophy of the Britannia Cup going to the best stableford score out of the two fields.

Field 1 (AM/PM)
- Winner: Angela Tillier (Denmark GC) | 35, 34 – Total 69 pts
- Runner/Up: Chris Beije (Geraldton GC) | 37, 26 – Total 63 pts
- Winner Vets: Lesley Owen (Denmark GC) | 28, 32 – Total 60 pts
- Super Vets: Shirley Culloty (Royal Perth GC) | 26, 28 – Total 54 pts
- Grass Greens: Cindy Suarez (Geraldton GC) | 36, 26 – Total 62 pts
- Sand Greens: Carol Piper (Moora Lake View GC) | 29, 30 – Total 59 pts
Field 2 (PM/AM)
- Winner: Di Smith (Bridgetown GC) | 30, 35 – Total 65 pts
- Runner/Up: Diana Balch (Dongara GC) | 32, 33 – Total 65 pts
- Winner Vets: Pat Robinson (Royal Fremantle GC) | 31, 29 – Total 60 pts
- Super Vets: Ann Maker (Royal Fremantle GC) | 31, 29 – Total 60 pts
- Grass Greens: Gloria Nelson (Dongara GC) | 31, 33 – Total 64 pts
- Sand Greens: Karan Murray (Tambellup GC) | 29, 32 – Total 61 pts
So from the above it was Angela Tillier from Denmark who finished in the top spot with two consistent rounds where she only missed scoring points on one hole which added up to a 36 hole total 69 stableford points to claim the overall trophy.
The rain threatened to put a sour note on the second day of competition, however, all we saw were a couple of light showers as the sun prevailed to allow some fantastic sights at Manjimup. Players enjoyed picturesque sights like the one below from the 11th green.

“The course was a stunner and it made it easier to get around on these old legs, absolutely loved the dinner and the effort put in by the women at the golf club was fantastic. Makes me excited for next year’s event!” said one of the women after they had finished their last hole.
Despite only having limited numbers to help setup and prepare for the event, the Manjimup Country Club was more than prepared and made sure every player was more than happy with their visit. The golf course was turned out in great condition and it is a credit to the members and the green keeper Ross Bremner for their work leading up to the event. Just for those planning there next wandering trip to the south west, Manjimup Country Club boosts not only a challenging test of golf but tennis courts, bowling greens, squash courts that are supported by an expansive clubhouse and welcomes all visitors throughout the year.
However, nothing quite beats the hospitality that came from the people of Manjimup who were more than happy to make sure the women and our own GolfWA staff were comfortable at every moment. Three women in particular must be mentioned and thanked for their efforts over the two days and in the lead up to the event, Robyn Kristoffersson, Kerry DeCampo and Caterina Bending did a huge amount of work to prepare the club and did a great job over the two days.
The Regional Seniors capped off a week long GolfWA visit in the area, with the Regional Roadshow on at the same time. Junior Development Officer Jordan McSkimming led the charge running sessions at several schools.
“We delivered 25 clinics in total at the schools in Manjimup, Kojonup and Katanning, it was a hugely successful trip with 615 students from Year 3 right through to Year 12 having a swing of a golf club across the three towns” Said Jordan, speaking on the week that he now feels will become an annual event.
