WA’s Minjee Lee new life as a professional will begin tonight in France when she tees off at the Evian Championship in France at 7:32pm Perth time.
It will be the fourth major Lee has played this year, but with a distinctly different feel as this time Lee is playing for prize money, with US$3.25 million on offer for the LPGA Tour event.
Lee’s coach Ritchie Smith, says the 18-year old is ready for the pressure cooker of professional life.
“I think she’s done as much as she can as an Amatuer and now she has a chance to play as a pro in a major.”
“She’s been the best amateur in the world for about 2 years now, she knows that she can play as a professional as she’s already played at pro events and been successful. She’s got a well rounded game and she’ll hold up pretty easily.”
