Junior Pennants finals wrap another successful year

Another year, another successful Junior Pennants season under wraps. New champion clubs were crowned in both the Boys’ and Girls’ Division 1 title races as Gosnells and Mount Lawley Ying took narrow wins respectively.

The Girls’ Division 1 title was decided through a final between Mount Lawley Ying and Gosnells. Ying took a convincing win, 4-1 over Gosnells finishing off a strong season. The second Mount Lawley side in the division also won their 3rd vs 4th playoff to make it two from two and a 1-2 finish.

In Division 2 it was the tightest tussle of them all this season. Lakelands required the winless Mount Lawley 3 to score their first triumph of the season in order to clutch the title. The team from Mount Lawley held up their end of the bargain, defeating a strong Lake Karrinyup side 3-2. Despite losing their final matchup, Lakelands held on to take the division 2 title.

Division 3 was also decided through a final yesterday at Lake Karrinyup. It was a brave effort from a South West side that been impressive all season despite their travel requirements. Royal Fremantle took the win 3.5-1.5 to secure the title despite starting the day in second place.

Gosnells have won their first Division 1 Boys’ title since 2014 and ended Joondalup’s hopes of winning six titles in a row. An undefeated season was capped by a 3-2 win at their home course yesterday to consolidate the title. Royal Fremantle and WAGC rounded out the top three in a Boys’ Division 1 race that never looked out of Gosnells’ control.

The story of an undefeated champion was continued in Division 2 by Lake Karrinyup. They required the win on the final day over 4th placed Joondalup and saluted with a tight 3-2 win. The team from the South West took second, only two point behind. This continues the strong play by teams from the area, showcasing the growth of golf.

Another division and another undefeated title win by Royal Fremantle in Division 3. They dominated their way through the season, dropping a total of only 8 matchups. They also rounded out the season with a 4-1 win over Mount Lawley in the final round. Lake Karrinyup and Gosnells completed the top 3.

Finally, Division 4 saw a South West team walk away with a title win, finishing on the same points total as the team from The Vines. All that separated the two teams were 1.5 matchup wins for South West in the tightest Boys’ division of the season. Gosnells 4 rounded out the top 3.
