Lockdowns and masks have not stopped our keen Junior pennant players from getting the season well underway. An enormous amount of work has gone into facilitating the schedule, reshuffling of matches to enable the competition to continue. Our thanks to all teams, managers, and host clubs for working together this year to get the juniors out on course for some exciting match play.
The final rounds will take place this weekend, with the tightly contested Division 1 Girls’ competition teeing off bright and early at Royal Perth Golf Club this Sunday. The Joondalup/The Vines team sit on equal points with Mount Lawley Golf Club (“The Beasts”) at the top of the ladder. Both undefeated in all rounds to date, excluding their match up against each other (which was halved) – this week will be the decider. Given the strong performance of both teams, it is likely it will come down to the for and against match tally to determine who takes home the flag.
Equally as exciting is the Division 1 finals for the boys, with Mount Lawley (1) and Joondalup (1) both on five points in the top two positions. Both teams are undefeated and yet to face each other, but with the Joondalup boys playing on their home turf this might just give them the edge.
Joondalup finds themselves at the top of the leaderboard again alongside the promising South-West / Goldfields team in the Boy’s Division 2. On equal points and yet to face each other, this deciding final round will be played out at Gosnells Golf Club.
An amazingly tightly contested pennant competition to date has made it an exciting Junior Pennant season. Best of luck to all teams competing this weekend and our thanks to the host clubs, parents, and volunteers for your contribution this season.
