There’s an extra incentive for competitors at the impending Cobra Puma Junior Championship and Drummond Golf Junior Amateur to perform well with four exemptions on offer to represent GolfWA in September’s Jack Newton Junior Classic.
The winner or highest-placed eligible boy and girl at each of the events (4 athletes in total – eligibility criteria below) will be invited to attend a fully funded interstate trip to NSW to contest the prestigious Jack Newton Junior Classic at Cypress Lakes Country Club in NSW from September 25-29.
Explaining the decision, Marc Pike, GolfWA’s Game Development and High Performance Manager, said: “Offering players the chance to represent GolfWA at the Jack Newton emphasises the value we place on the Cobra Puma Junior Championship and the Drummond Golf Junior Amateur.
“This incentive increases what is at stake and provides huge development opportunities for players aspiring to make the 2024 GolfWA Interstate Junior Squad. It also provides valuable interstate travel experience with the GolfWA team and the chance to compete against some of the nation’s leading young talents.”
The Jack Newton routinely attracts many of the best juniors from Australia and overseas to compete in individual and team competitions. The strength of the field makes it a significant event in terms of Order of Merit ranking points.
