Hopewell secures spot in Spain

7th Nov 2022

Hayden Hopewell has continued his hot form of late finishing in a tie for fourth at the second stage of DP World Tour Q-School. The Western Australian is one of three amateurs to find their way into the final stage of Q-School.

Hopewell, who shot out to an early lead after round one kept charging over the weekend. A first round 65 followed by a second round 71 was nearly derailed by a Saturday 73. As we have seen so often in the past, Hopewell came to play on the Sunday. Getting himself a ticket to the final stage with a fourth round 67, finishing the week in Almeria at 12 under and tied for 4th.

Hopewell has had his eyes on a quick transition into the professional ranks and is proving that he is not there to make up the numbers.

His run of good form in 2022 comes off the back of a  number of good finishes in both Amateur and Professional events which include the 2021 WA Open in April where he finished 2nd, The 2022 WA Open where he finished T15,  Asia-Pacific Amateur where he finished T44. His fantastic year also included a great run at the 2022 US Amateur where he bowed out in the round of sixteen.

Hopewell will meet fellow Western Australian Jarryd Felton in the final stage of DP World Tour Q-School. It will be played at the Lakes Course, Infinitum, Tarragona, Spain. The six round final stage shootout has the reward of status on the DP World Tour for the 2023 season. The leading 30 players and ties at Final Qualifying receive category 11 membership of the European Tour, which entitles them to entry to a substantial number of  DP World Tour events.

The stage of qualifying starts on the 11th of November, follow Hopewell and Felton on the link below.
