WA’s Maddison Hinson-Tolchard will make her professional debut at the Epson Tour’s Firekeepers Casino Hotel Championship in Michigan next week.
The 22-year-old Gosnells golfer has just graduated from Oklahoma State University, where she enjoyed a sensational four years on the US college golf circuit to become the most successful player in the history of the university’s golf program.
One of her key achievements in 2023 was to earn her playing rights on the Epson Tour – the feeder circuit to the LPGA Tour – at Qualifying School in October.
Having missed the tour’s opening seven events as she concluded her amateur career, Hinson-Tolchard will now have a maximum of 13 tournaments in which to earn enough ranking points to earn one of 15 LPGA Tour exemptions for 2025.
Hinson-Tolchard revealed that she had taken the professional plunge on Instagram, saying: “Been a long time coming but I finally get to say I’m a professional golfer! I’ll be playing on the Epson Tour for the rest of this year and can’t wait to get out there and start competing.
“Thank you to my whole team back in Aus for always backing me, I can’t wait to take this next step with you guys. My biggest thanks go to my family for always believing in me.”
The Firekeepers Casino Hotel Championship takes place at Battle Creek Country Club in Michigan from June 7-9. You’ll be able to follow Maddy’s progress here.
