In a bid to establish closer links to local schools, Hartfield Golf Club utilised WA Golf Foundation funding to host a golf day for students from Glen Forrest Primary School.

More than 40 students from Years 5 and 6 attended the day, which saw Hartfield GC’s PGA pros Rob Nuttall and Jeff Ahn deliver expert tuition in driving, putting and short game skills.

Glen Forrest PS students had previously experienced a number of MyGolf in Schools sessions, delivered by GolfWA, over the past two years. However, for many of the youngsters this was their first time on the golf course proper.

Teacher Mark Bosworth said: “It’s awesome to get the kids to a golf club after doing sporting schools for the past couple of years. It’s nice to be able to bring the kids to such a great facility as this to show them the ‘real’ side of golf and hopefully we can start an affiliation with the club and provide a pathway into golf for some of our students each year.”

Hartfield’s General Manager, Brian Close, added: “We were very pleased to welcome the students to the course, and we hope today will have inspired a few of them to consider taking up golf more seriously.

“We are committed to building more links with schools in the Kalamunda/Hills area and we hope this event will be the first of many more like it.”
