Hartfield has claimed the Men’s Senior Individual Division One Pennant title after victory over Wanneroo at the Western Australian Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon.
In a winner-takes-all affair, the Hartfield men proved too strong prevailing 4-1 over Wanneroo, finishing top of the table by just two points after the full five rounds.
The competition was incredibly tight with three teams finishing on six points behind the eventual champions, with Lake Karrinyup and Lakelands narrowly missing out on glory.
Paul Chappell led from the front despite going down in the final round, while a tight victory to Peter Bennett at no.2 levelled the tie.
Trevor Hughes was dominant in his 7 & 6 win over Sul Varela, while Michael Dunsmore and Steve Graham finished off the fixture.
Joondalup was relegated to division two after finishing last on the table.
Royal Perth secured promotion into division one after claiming the Division Two Pennant, clinching top spot by the narrowest of margins on Monday afternoon at their home course.
Despite having a bye, RPGC finished level with Melville Glades and Mount Lawley on six points, with their superior match wins enough to gift them the title.
Three wins and a loss was the final season tally for Royal Perth, with another tight competition going down to the wire.
For the record, Melville Glades and Cottesloe were the winners in the final round on Monday.
