GolfWA’s inaugural RV Golf Tour has been hailed as a resounding success by the 52 participants that enjoyed a week of golfing fun and friendship in WA’s Eastern Wheatbelt.
Intended to be as much about forming new friendships as it was about the golf, the RV Tour has quickly become one of the genuine highlights on the WA golfing calendar.
The RV Golf Tour offered an opportunity to experience some of the best golf courses the Wheatbelt region has to offer. Enjoy fantastic local hospitality, soak up the sights and scenery, and make new friends along the way.
Regional Western Australia is littered with small sand green golf courses that provide a stern test of golf but also offer up a whole lot of fun. These clubs are often run by a handful of dedicated volunteers that balance work and family life with their love of golf.
The RV Tour offered the chance to highlight these regional clubs and offered a cash injection that will see them prosper for years to come.
GolfWA’s travelling festival of golf included 22 caravans/RVs, 44 playing members, 8 non-players and one very well-behaved dog, Angus.
Despite only having a handful of playing members, Lake King, Varley and Hyden all served as wonderful hosts and welcomed the participants into their clubs with open arms and plenty of food.
The sense of community and togetherness in these small regional clubs is phenomenal. Community spirit is at the heart of every small regional town and as a visitor from the city it is wonderful to witness.
“The tour was well organised and it is a great initiative to support the struggling country clubs. When you think they all struggling with the number of members within the clubs. They all managed to rally around and take care of our group and spoil us with delicious meals and snacks along the way,” one participant said after the event.
The RV Golf Tour concept aimed to bring people from different walks of life together to discover new regions and golf courses within Western Australia. There are so many wonderful golf courses and towns to discover in Western Australia and the RV Tour was a wonderful conduit to share travel plans and recommendations.
Planning is already underway for next year’s event and GolfWA is excited to bring the RV Tour concept to a new region within Western Australia.
