Maddison Hinson-Tolchard and Kirsten Rudgeley will join an illustrious group of women when they tee off at the Nexus Risk TSA Group WA Open this Thursday.
The pair sit alongside Hira Naveed as the only ladies to pre-qualify for the professional tournament, with the likes of Minjee Lee and Hannah Green gaining tournament invites during their Amateur days.
For Hinson-Tolchard it continues her breakout season as a leading Australian Amateur. The 16-year-old claimed the Australian Junior in May and competed in her first pro tournament at the NSW Women’s Open.
“I was a little bit nervous lining up on the first tee playing with the men,” Hinson Tolchard said. “Especially off the back tees that was a little bit daunting.”
“I had a game plan to plan to go out there, play my own game and see what happens.”
“I played well and my short game helped me a lot not going to lie.”
The Gosnells star had no expectations heading into the round at Cottesloe Golf Club, however will now try to enjoy the experience and everything the tournament entails.
“I am very excited,” she claimed.
“I wasn’t planning on making the qualification that’s for sure, so it was a bit of a bonus to qualify.”
Hinson Tolchard will lean on the experiences she gained at the NSW Women’s Open despite the vastly different nature this tournament encompasses.
“I think it’s going to be a really good experience for me,” she mentioned.
“Definitely something different that I’ve never done before.”
“I played the NSW Women’s Open earlier in the year and will definitely lean on that experience.”
