Fun-focused Hamersley upgrades open for business

An entertainment-focused driving range and community-friendly pavilion are the star attractions of the $20m redevelopment of Hamersley Public Golf Course.

The upgraded facilities were reopened to the public just prior to Christmas following a 14-month construction period funded by the City of Stirling.

The centrepiece of the redevelopment is the two-storey driving range, which features Inrange ball-tracking technology, digital gaming options, lounge seating for up to eight people, and food and drink at an on-site bar and kiosk. Bays are allocated by time, rather than by balls or buckets, and must be booked online.

Alongside the range, the redevelopment incorporates a new pavilion, home to a pro shop and a 500-person ‘Sunny Social’ venue, featuring a bar, restaurant, function room, kiosk, children’s play area and al fresco seating.

An open-air events space promises to be suitable for parties, concerts and outdoor cinema screenings, while the existing car park has been expanded to better cope with increased demand.

The final touch was to enhance the club’s accessibility through a new fleet of golf carts, all offering touch screens with 3D hole flyovers, distance measurements and digital scorecards.

“This is the start of an exciting new era for Hamersley Public Golf Course,” City of Stirling Mayor, Mark Irwin (pictured top), said. “The new driving range and pavilion, in particular, are going to transform this venue and make it more attractive to more members of our community.

“This is the only public golf course in the City of Stirling and I’m proud to say it’s now one of the best public golf courses in WA.”

Hamersley Public Golf Course opened in 1968 and hosts in excess of 100,000 rounds per year. The course is open to the public seven days a week, with tee times available to book online.

A number of social golf clubs also play out of Hamersley on a weekly basis. Contact the club for more information on social golf options.
