PERTH, (23 September 2014)—Lake Karrinyup Country Club is preparing for its biggest week of the year when some of the world’s best players descend on the course for the Perth International from 23 to 26 October.
With three Major champions announced to play in Jason Dufner, Charl Schwartzel and Geoff Ogilvy, plus Ryder Cup Europe team member Victor Dubuisson, five-time European Tour winner Brett Rumford, defending champion Jin Jeong, and 2014 Texas Open winner Steven Bowditch, the 2014 Perth International field is the strongest yet.
The Perth International is the only event in Australia to be co-sanctioned with the European Tour and it is an important tournament for those players needing to retain their cards for the following season or qualify for the Race to Dubai Final Series.
Lake Karrinyup Course Superintendent Trevor Strachan said his 26-strong team are in full championship course set-up mode.
“We’re dusting, top dressing, and cutting down around the tees to prepare all surfaces. If the weather stays warm through to the event the greens will be firm, fair and fast like last year’s Perth International.”
Lake Karrinyup Country Club is widely acknowledged as Western Australia’s premier private golf club and has been regularly rated as one of the top ten golf courses in Australia.
Perth International organisers have introduced some exciting new ticket options for this year’s event and there are packages to suit all budgets and enthusiasts – from die-hard golf fans to those new to the sport.
Tournament Director Simon Corkill said the new $20 ticket on Thursday was designed to encourage first-timers to check out the action and then return over the following tournament days.
“Lake Karrinyup is a wonderful place to spend a day and the course is one of the finest tests the players from both Tours will have all year. The new Advantage ticket, designed for guests keen on golf, is proving popular—no surprise given that it provides the ticket holder with up to $200 worth of savings including discounted green fees at a number of courses,” he said.
Additionally, there will be free entry for kids under 16 who accompany a paying adult, and for the first time in Australia there will be dedicated viewing areas for kids, bringing them closer to the action.
