Josh Madden, the former GM of Wembley Golf Course, will join GolfWA in the newly created role of Clubs and Facilities Manager.

Madden will take up the post in early March once he has relocated from NSW, where he has served as General Manager of Killara Golf Club since late 2023.

The Clubs and Facilities Manager will play a crucial role in maintaining strong relationships with Affiliated Golf Clubs, District Associations and other golfing clubs and facilities to ensure they are being engaged and serviced effectively to a high standard.

The role will also involve building strong relationships at state and local government level to explore funding avenues to ensure the ongoing growth of the game in WA, as well as driving initiatives to increase participation and drive development at clubs and facilities.

“I’ve been fortunate to work within both private and public facilities and this role was a great fit and a significant opportunity to help grow the game,” Madden told GolfWA.

“Working with non-traditional facilities such as mini-golf, indoor simulators and driving ranges, also piqued my interest because their customers’ golfing journeys and destinations will be a challenge to map and follow.

“Growing our data on those that are interested in the game and then understanding how to engage with them is at the forefront of my mind when it comes to non-traditional facilities.

“However, I’ll also be working closely with traditional clubs to assist where I can. I’ve learned that each venue is different and I’ll bring my experience to these facilities to brainstorm, strategise, problem solve and answer questions as best I can.”

Madden held the top job at Wembley Golf Course for almost five years between 2018-2022. Prior to that, he held the role of General Manager at Toowoomba City Golf Club and was the State Manager of the PGA of WA. He has also been a Board Member of the Australian PGA since 2021.

Gary Thomas, Chief Executive of GolfWA, added: “Josh has extensive experience across public facility and golf club management and will be an excellent addition to the GolfWA team.

“He is well known and respected for his achievements at Wembley Golf Course and will have a vital role to play in helping clubs and facilities maximise the benefits they deliver to their own communities.”
