Some of Western Australia’s best young golfers are set to converge on the South West to tee it up at the 2019 Drummond Golf 54-Hole Junior Classic.
The tournament will be played across three different courses in the beautiful South West and is set to be an exciting week of golf.
Margaret River Golf Club will play host to the opening round of the tournament on Wednesday, July 17. This beautiful course features an abundance of local flora and fauna and will pose a genuine challenge to the juniors.
Thursday’s round will see competitors travel North to play at the picturesque Capel Golf Club. This hidden gem is a wonderful golf course that is famed for the kangaroos that dot the fairways.
The final round of the 2019 tournament will be played at Bunbury Golf Course on Friday, July 19. Bunbury Golf Club is a challenging layout with large and undulating greens and is sure to prove a tough finale.
The Drummond Golf 54-Hole Junior Classic offers young golfers the opportunity to play on new and challenging courses outside the metropolitan area and is a highlight on the GolfWA calendar.
Many of Western Australia’s current leading professionals have their name on the trophy. Minjee Lee, Min Woo Lee, Greg Chalmers, Curtis Luck and Brett Rumford have all won this iconic South West event in the past.
The Drummond Golf 54-Hole Junior Classic has also proved to be a pathway to Major Championship success. Hannah Green, the current KPMG PGA Women’s Champion won the event back in 2012.
GolfWA’s Smarter than Smoking Junior Tour will be holding their own three-day event in conjunction with the 54-Hole Junior Classic. The Junior Tour uses modified rules and caters for golfers aged 12 and under.
GolfWA encourages South West locals to get out and watch the action as our State’s top juniors battle it out for the 2019 title. After all, you never know when you might be watching a future Major Champion.
