As the golfing community would be aware, two of our fellow golf clubs – Bridgetown and Jerramungup – were badly affected by bushfires earlier this year. Several clubs very quickly contributed directly to the clubs and GolfWA established a Bushfire Appeal in order to raise further funds to help these clubs out. Whilst it has taken longer than anticipated due to the timing of when clubs held events to contribute to the fund, GolfWA is delighted to announce that $31,500 in total will be divided amongst the Jerramungup and Bridgetown Golf Clubs. The funds will be allocated based on the level of loss of the two clubs. Both clubs are already in the process of their rebuilds, which we know will take some time. The revival of their courses has certainly been aided by the winter rain this year
GolfWA Chief Executive stated that this was a fantastic achievement, highlighting the giving nature of the Western Australian golfing community.

We do know that Royal Fremantle, Busselton and The Western Australian Golf Clubs as well as Lakelands Country Club donated directly to Bridgetown Golf Club and there no doubt have been others that we have not been made aware of.
