The 2023 State Senior Amateur Championships of WA have moved to October from their traditional April dates.
The WA Senior Amateurs will now take place at Royal Perth from 23-25 October, following hot on the heels of the 2023 Australian Senior Amateur, which takes place at Lake Karrinyup from October 18-20. It is hoped that the proximity of the events will tempt a number of top-ranked seniors from the eastern states to stay on and contest the WA events.
Played over 54 holes of stroke play, the men’s and women’s WA Senior Amateur Championships run concurrently. The reigning champions are Ken Brewer (Newcastle Golf Club, NSW) and Sue Wooster (pictured above, The National Golf Club, VIC).
To be eligible, male players must be 55yrs+ as of the first day of the championship and have a Golf Australia handicap of 16 or lower. Following a change in GolfWA’s regulations, women can now compete if they are 50yrs+ with a handicap of 21 or below.
The State Senior Amateur Championships of WA will return to their usual April timeslots in 2024. You can view GolfWA’s full schedule of events for 2023 here.
