WA amateur star Josh Greer eased through Qualifying School today to earn full playing rights on the PGA Tour of Australasia in 2023-24.
The Joondalup golfer made light of the pressure-cooker Q-School environment to post a four-under-par 72-hole total at Moonah Links Open Course in Victoria. It was good enough to see Greer finish in T8th position overall with the top 30 earning fully exempt status on the tour.
Having come through pre-qualifying last week, it was the culmination of a draining fortnight for Greer, who was delighted with the outcome.
“It’s been a long two weeks, but I’m really pleased to get my card,” Greer told GolfWA. “It’s great to know I’ll have a place to play once I turn pro and having played a few events on the PGA of Australasia this year I think I’ve got a good feel for what it’ll take to be competitive.”
Greer is a GolfWA High Performance Athlete, who has represented the state at both junior and open-age level and will line up for WA in next month’s Interstate Teams Matches.
He has also represented Australia, being named in the team that competed at the 2022 Amateur Championship Asia-Pacific in Thailand, where he finished T35th.

Although he now has his hands on his pro card, Greer plans to remain amateur until November and is targetting events in the UK and USA this summer.
In June, he’ll compete in the St Andrews Links Trophy and The Amateur Championship on British soil and hopes to get his World Amateur Golf Ranking high enough to earn an exemption into the US Amateur Championship in August.
After that, Greer will attempt to come through DP World Tour Q-School before finalising his playing schedule, which is likely to include exemptions into the 2023 Australian PGA Championship and Australian Open in November and December.
Greer was the only WA golfer to successfully negotiate PGA Tour of Australasia Q-School. Fellow amateur Adam Brady (The Vines Resort) and pros Cooper Geddes, Jose De Sousa, Rick Kulacz and Ryan Peake all reached the final stage but missed out on the top 30.
