Clay & Whitting win GJDO

Lewis Clay and Jessica Whitting have won the Smarter than Smoking Goldfields Junior Desert Open this afternoon at Goldfields Golf Club.

72 local and out of town juniors played the two days in great conditions. Lewis Clay of Mandurah Golf Club took the boys title at 2-over par by two strokes over runner-up Jakeb Dunkley from Kennedy Bay. Clay opened with an even round 72, the best for the tournament, and closed with a 2-over 74.

In the girls event, Royal Fremantle’s Jessica Whitting was a clear five stroke winner over runner-up Alysa Ahnantakrishnan from Mount Lawley.

In the Nett competition, local Austin Baroni of Goldfields Golf Club took out the boys with rounds of 63, 38 = 131, and Lake Karrinyup’s Jennifer Herbst won the girls with a nett of 141.
