Lake Karrinyup’s Sheridan Clancy and Gosnell’s Josiah Gilbert are the 2021 Drummond Golf Junior Classic Champions. After three days of tremendous golfing competition at Capel Golf Club, Dunsborough Lakes and today’s final round at Busselton Golf Club, the pair enjoyed superb conditions to secure the title.
Sheridan, who led jointly in round one with Mia Lawson, finished an incredible twelve strokes ahead of her closest competitor Valerie Khuu after carding a sensational 5-under par in her final round at Busselton Golf Club.
A near flawless card for Clancy with one mishap on the fifth, the nerves she claimed to be suffering from didn’t seem to ruffle any feathers of this cool customer. Being four under through nine after an early shotgun start was a sign the game she had been playing all week was firmly on.
The Boys’ competition has been close all week, with Josiah Gilbert, Joe Buttress, Logan Vidovich, Joe Teasdale and Ian Pienaar all appearing at the top end of the leaderboard in the first two rounds. It was neck and neck all day between the lead groups. Buttress made an eagle on fifteen and was looking strong, but bogeys on the last two holes gave Gilbert the one stroke lead to secure the title.
