Barron breezes into final stage of DP World Q-School

Haydn Barron Q-School

Haydn Barron put his indifferent season’s form behind him to top his field at the second stage of DP World Tour Qualifying School in Spain.

The former WA state captain lost his DP World Tour status at the end of a tough rookie season that saw him make just six cuts from 21 events and finish well outside the top 115 players who retain their playing rights.

However, Barron breezed into the final stage of Q-School after rounds of 65, 67, 64 and 70 at Fontanals Golf Club. His 18-under-par total saw him share top spot with Slovakia’s Jakub Hrinda.

Next up for the WAGC member is the punishing six-round final stage at Infinitum Golf on Spain’s north-east coast from November 8-13.

With only the top 25 players in the 154-man field earning fully exempt status, Q-School is one of the most daunting prospects in all professional golf. Barron, however, has good memories to fall back on after he earned his DP World Tour card at 2023 Q-School, finishing T9th overall.

Barron will be joined in final qualifying by Cottesloe-raised Danny List, who finished T16th in his qualifier at Golf Las Pinaillas. However, Joondalup pair  Josh Greer and Connor McKinney failed to progress.
