Another massive hit for Regional Seniors tournament

6th May 2022

The GolfWA Regional Seniors tournament shows no sign of slowing down as another 147 women descended on Spalding Park Golf Club over the last two days. These ladies were met with the traditional strong Geraldton wind, however, were not deterred in their pursuit of a high stableford score and a good time all around.

Spalding’s rapid greens presented a challenge over the two days, but there weren’t many complaints to be heard as the course was presented magnificently. Spalding Park’s volunteer greenskeepers and club volunteers were lauded by the players for their effort across the two day tournament, another effortless success for a club that seems to know no other way.

Rockingham Golf Club’s Christine Glanfield took out the Brittania Cup for the best score over the two days, finishing the stableford event with rounds of 38 and 33.

When presented with the Cup, Christine said “It’s such a wonderful time for us, this year has been no different, Spalding have done a great job, as have the GolfWA team”.

As is the tradition with Regional Seniors, the Thursday night dinner is something to look forward to. This year’s theme of “Beach Party” afforded some fantastic dress-up opportunities. It was the Wanneroo Golf Club who was judged as best dressed and will take home the Sue Goundrey Memorial Jacket, which they will add their Club’s touch as does the winner every year. The jacket is named after WA women’s golf pioneer Sue Goundrey, who loved the Regional Seniors event as much as any.
