Cottesloe duo James Ferguson and Brad White have claimed a dream State Amateur Foursomes title at their home course on Sunday in a thrilling afternoon of golf.
Exciting youngsters Maddison Hinson-Tolchard and Abbie Teasdale managed to clinch the women’s foursomes’ title, with the pair proving too strong to win by five shots.
The day, however, belonged to White and Ferguson.
The long-time members of Cottesloe played consistently throughout the day, turning at the 18th five shots behind the Owen brothers of Lake Karrinyup Country Club.
A confident even-par 72 in the second round was enough to grab the title, finishing two shots clear of the Lake Karrinyup pairing.
The unexpected victory was made all the more sweeter given the competition was held at their home club, with ideal conditions gifting the players a great day of golf.
Hinson-Tolchard and Teasdale cruised to the title in the women’s competition, untroubled throughout the day with a pair of 77’s.
Fresh from a trip to America for the US Junior, Hinson-Tolchard picked up her maiden Foursomes title, while WA Amateur winner Teasdale had her name etched on the trophy for a second time.
Sasha Hofman and Alice Chang put up a strong fight in second position, while Even Cohen and Christine Manungus rounded out the top three placings.
Hayden Hopewell continued his stunning winter form to finish third alongside fellow Royal Fremantle pennant player Paul Mews.
Cottesloe had plenty of representation on the day, with the four of the top six positions belonging to the home club.
