Gold Coaster Becky Kay still holds a commanding three-shot lead going into the final round of the Bowra & O’Dea Women’s Classic, with the defending champion on track to record her third victory in a month.
Fellow Queenslander Deedee- Taylor Russell was the big mover of the day, with an even-par 72 elevating her into the chasing pack of Kirsten Rudgeley and Stephanie Bunque, three shots behind leader Kay.
Maddison Hinson-Tolchard gave herself every chance after a one-over-par 73 moved the local West Australian to 10-over-par for the tournament, and five shots back.
Despite the improvement in weather, many of the girls continued to struggle around Cottesloe Golf Club, with Russell recording the best round for the day.
Kay remained consistent again throughout her round, with two birdies on the front nine, before pushing through to three-over for the day.
The back nine proved difficult once more for all players, with Kay managing three bogeys on the run home.
Russell maintained the pressure on her counterpart with three birdies and three bogeys seeing her finish square, while WA’s Rudgeley parred all but two holes to hold her second place position.
New South Wales star Doey Choi remains an outside chance five shots back, while Abbie Teasdale fell behind with a round of 79.
With the National Rankings title – a huge factor in the Karrie Webb Series scholarships – on the line in the season-ending women’s event, the stage is set for a dramatic final round at the superb Cottesloe Golf Club.
