Gosnells have caused a major upset and moved to the top of the Girls’ Division One table after a dominant win over the previously unbeaten Mount Lawley Devils at Junior Pennants on Sunday.
In a battle of the heavyweights, Maddison Hinson-Tolchard and Kirsten Rudgeley faced off as the number ones for their respective sides, with Rudgeley collecting the win 3 &2. Despite her victory, Gosnells were far too strong across the board winning 4-2 at their home course.
Royal Perth gained their first win of the year defeating Lake Karrinyup 4-2, while Royal Fremantle and Mount Lawley Angels shared the points at 3-3.
Joondalup/Sun City dropped their first points in Girls’ Division Two, halving with Kwinana 2.5-2.5, while Mount Lawley narrowly pipped Royal Perth 3-2.
The Boys’ Division One continues to be owned by Royal Fremantle, with the 2017 runners up defeating Cottesloe easily 4.2-2.5 at Melville Glades Golf Club to remain at the top of the table.
Connor McKinney led Mandurah to a 5.5-1.5 win over Mount Lawley to keep their hopes alive in the competition, while Joondalup defeated Royal Perth despite Josh Greer going down to Chris Mun.
In Division Two, South West/ Goldfields and Melville Glades claimed the points at Sun City Country Club, with the Glades maintaining their spot as the leader of the competition.
Gosnells and The Vines played out a 3.5-3.5 halve in their contest.
The WA Golf Club has kept their stranglehold in the Boys’ Division Three, sitting a game clear with two rounds remaining in the competition.
The leaders edged out Joondalup 3.5-2.5, while Sea View/Melville Glades and Royal Fremantle were the other big winners from the weekend.
Jordan Tueno and Randall Heng led Gosnells to the top of the Boys’ Division Four standings after a 3-2 win over Kwinana at their home course.
Royal Perth hammered Sun City 4.5-0.5, while Pinjarra remain winless after going down to South West/Goldfields.
The race is on for top spot in all the Divisions with only two rounds remaining in the season.
