Two-time Asian Tour winner Rick Kulacz has been confirmed as the new High Performance Manager for Western Australia.

A product of Hartfield Country Club, Kulacz was one of WA’s leading amateur golfers in his formative years, winning numerous significant titles including the WA Men’s and the WA Boys’ Amateur Championships in 2003, as well as the Australian Boys’ Amateur in 2001.

After turning professional in 2007, Kulacz played on the Asian Tour, winning titles in Brunei and Malaysia in the following two years.

Kulacz will take up his new role in early March and undergo a period of integration with the Golf Australia High Performance team in Melbourne before officially commencing with GolfWA in May.

The 39-year-old says he’s relishing the prospect of kicking off a new chapter in his career and says he can’t wait to get started.

“I’m really excited to start in this new role and help the next generation become as good as they want to be,” he told GolfWA.

“Golf has been a massive part of my life now for nearly three decades. With that has come some success but also hardship and I will draw on both to pass down to WA’s newest High Performance Athletes to help guide them through the necessary pathways to achieve success.”

Gary Thomas, Chief Executive of GolfWA, welcomed Kulacz’s appointment, saying: “Rick was a terrific representative of WA golf as both an amateur and professional, and we’re excited to see what he can achieve in this new position.

“His career experiences make him the ideal choice to help the next generation of WA’s High Performance Athletes unlock their potential.”
