Barron, Hopewell and List still in mix at Q-School

DP World Tour Q-School

WA trio Hayden Hopewell, Danny List and Haydn Barron are all still in contention to earn playing rights on the DP World Tour after making the 72-hole cut at Qualifying School.

A field of 156 commenced the six-round final stage of Q-School last Friday, with the top 65 and ties progressing to a further 36 holes with only the top 20 and ties gaining exempt status on the tour for 2025.

List, who is based in the US but spent time in Perth growing up, is the best-placed WA golfer in T24th at 11-under-par. Barron is three strokes further adrift in T47th, while Hopewell is another shot back in T65th.

All three are very much in the mix to earn exempt status on the DP World Tour, but have at least secured their playing rights for the Challenge Tour by virtue of reaching the final two rounds of Q- School.

Of the three, Barron can perhaps feel most relieved to progress after he opened the event with a five-over-par 77 at Infinitum Golf’s Hills Course in northern Spain.

Facing an early exit, Barron bounced back in glorious style with a 10-under-par 61 at the resort’s Lakes Course to charge back into the reckoning.

The WA trio were the only Australians to make the four-round cut, with Brett Coletta, Todd Sinnott, Matthew Griffin, Andrew Kelly, Tom Power-Horan and Cameron John all missing out. Italian Eduardo Molinari leads the field at -20.

Qualifying School finishes on Wednesday. You can keep up with the scores here.
