GolfWA High Performance Athletes Connor Fewkes and Abbie Teasdale reigned supreme at the Goldfields Classic at Kalgoorlie Golf Course.
WA state captain Fewkes learned his trade at Kalgoorlie GC and was a strong favourite in 2024 after five previous victories at the 36-hole event.
He made the early running with a three-under-par 69 on day one of the championship to establish a three-shot lead he never looked in danger of losing.
He duly secured his sixth Goldfields Classic crown with a second consecutive 69 to card a four-stroke victory over Royal Fremantle’s Zac Capelli, who also closed with a fine 69.
In the women’s event, Teasdale was predictably head and shoulders above the rest. Her opening level-par 72 left her 14 clear of the chasing pack and she extended this further on day two after a four-under-par 68. This secured her the title by an incredible 41-shot margin.
