WA golf icon Jarrod Moseley will play his first PGA Tour of Australasia event for five years at the Bowra & O’Dea Nexus Advisernet WA Open.
Former European Tour winner Moseley is a Mandurah local and was involved in redesigning several holes at Mandurah Country Club, where the 100th WA Open will be staged from October 17-20.
Moseley, who turned 52 in early October, has not played on tour since 2019, when he missed the cut at the WA Open at Cottesloe Golf Club. Nevertheless, he’s looking forward to this year’s event with great anticipation and believes he still has the goods to compete.
“I haven’t played much competitive golf for a while but I’m hitting it very well right now and I’m confident of playing all four rounds,” he told GolfWA.
“Mandurah Country Club is a very strategic course. It’s all about hitting fairways, putting the ball in the right places and missing in the right places, and that suits my game well. If I get off to a good start I think I could be right in it.”
Beyond that, Moseley revealed he’s simply delighted to be playing an event he loves at a course he knows like the back of his hand.
“I’m stoked to have the opportunity to play the WA Open at my home club in front of family and friends with my son, Angus, on the bag,” he added. “I’ve received so much support from the members and locals over many years, I hope I can give them something to shout about.”
GolfWA Chief Executive Gary Thomas welcomed Moseley’s inclusion in the field, saying: “Jarrod is a hugely popular figure in the Mandurah region, so it’s a great opportunity for local golf fans to get along to the WA Open and throw their support behind him.
“No one knows Mandurah Country Club better than ‘Mose’ and he still swings the club as sweetly as ever, so we expect him to give a very good account of himself.”
