Royal Fremantle’s Azer-Benjamin Pehlic held off a spirited charge from Aaron Dobson to complete a wire-to-wire win at the ADH Club Car WA PGA Associate Championship.

The leader since day one, Pehlic began the final round at Wembley Golf Course with a four-stroke advantage as he and Dobson pulled away from the field.

Despite the daunting deficit, Dobson turned the heat up on his rival to narrow the gap to just two strokes early in their back nine.

However, Pehlic never faltered and pulled away again as he closed with a bogey-free 67 (five under) for a total of 13-under par and a four-shot win.

Dobson also shot 67 on the final day to take second at 9 under par, with Daniel Hoeve (67) outright third at 3 under, and the only other player to finish the championship under par.

In his first year of the PGA Membership Pathway Program, 25-year-old Pehlic hopes to use this win as a catalyst for greater playing opportunities in future.

“I would love to be on a main tour after I finish my PGA training, which will be awesome as well,” said Pehlic. “At the end of the day, I love to compete. Competition drives me in the morning. I just want to win everything and anything.”

Pehlic’s winning week was made even more memorable by a hole-in-one at the 16th hole during round three. He will now go on to compete in the PGA Associate National Championship.
