Min Woo’s presence electrifies Junior Tour golfers

7th Nov 2023

They may well be the stars of tomorrow, but a star of today was on hand to inspire competitors at the latest round of the Crunch&Sip Junior Tour at Royal Fremantle.

Homeclub favourite Min Woo Lee was tuning up his game on the Royal Freo driving range during a pit stop in Perth – and it wasn’t long before he was spotted by eagle-eyed junior golfers!

Min Woo happily posed for photos and signed autographs before departing to leave the stage clear for the talented youngsters to take the next steps on their own golfing journeys.

It was another blockbuster event on the Crunch&Sip Junior Tour, with 82 young golfers competing across four categories – an attendance record in a year that has seen attendance records broken time and again.

Alexandra Fleming, Allayna Engel, Charlie Biddle and Adam Toth were the category winners on another day of hot competition, and GolfWA’s Jordan McSkimming says he hopes the presence of Min Woo Lee was a source of inspiration for the whole field.

“It was great to see Min Woo there just going about his business,” said Jordan. “It’s a reminder to our Junior Tour players that hard work, practice and dedication can really pay off in the long term.

“It’s too early to tell if any of our players today will go on to become golf superstars like Min Woo, but there’s definitely a lot of talented juniors on the tour and it’s very exciting to see how swiftly their games are developing.”

April Wheeler, meanwhile, was one of the juniors to have a snap taken with Min Woo and she confirmed that it was a genuine highlight of her short golfing career to date.

“I was very excited to see Min Woo Lee,” April told GolfWA. “He was very friendly and I hope I can be an awesome golfer like him one day!”

There is just one more counting event on this year’s Junior Tour, which will take place at Hartfield GC on November 26. Entry is open now.
