Women and Girls in Golf Careers Showcase

Wembley Golf Complex will host WA’s first Women and Girls in Golf Careers Showcase on Friday, September 15.

Taking place between 3.30pm-6pm, the free showcase will feature a fun networking mini golf event before a panel session with women representing the many diverse career streams available within the industry. The confirmed panelists are: –

  • Suzanne Blay-Martin, Events Officer, Golf WA
  • Britney Chatfield, Horticulturalist, Wembley GC
  • Sam Hodge, General Manager, The Vines GC
  • Aleisha Weizmann, PGA Pro, Gosnells GC

Panellist Suzanne Blay-Martin is one of GolfWA’s most recognisable staff members through her organisation of and attendance at many of our key events. She says she’s looking forward to contributing to a debate aimed at inspiring the next intake of women into the golf industry.

“There is such a strong community within golf, particularly amongst the women,” said Blay-Martin. “Now is an exciting time to get involved so I encourage those thinking of a career change or future career to come and learn more.”

Aligning with the event’s tagline, ‘You don’t have to be a golfer to work in golf’, Blay-Martin is a perfect example of how a career in golf can still be fulfilling – even if you don’t play the game.

“What I love about working in sport is seeing firsthand how it unites people – the Matildas are a perfect recent example,” Blay-Martin added. “What’s so great about golf is that it’s a sport for everyone. You can play at any age or life stage, any level, any ability and in a multitude of formats.

“As a woman who works in golf, it’s important to me to see that the sport is welcoming to and inclusive of all genders and I think that golf is making great strides in doing that.”

The event is free to attend and you can register for it here. We recommend registering as soon as you’re able to avoid missing out! The video below outlines what the showcase events set out to achieve.
