Kwinana Golf Club have claimed their fourth consecutive title after a dominant season in the Southern Division of GolfWA Senior Women’s Pennant competition.
The Kwinana ladies only dropped 4.5 points across five rounds on their way to an undefeated season. Kwinana has dominated the Senior Women’s Pennant competition having won six of the last seven titles, only missing out in 2015.
Lakelands Country Club has snuck across the line to claim the North Division pennant by a solitary point over the women from Chequers Golf Club.
Chequers and Lakelands were in a tight tussle atop the leaderboard for much of the season but a final-round stumble against Wanneroo saw Chequers drop valuable points that eventually saw them fall to second on the ladder. Lakelands capitalised on this error and took a narrow 2.5/1.5 victory over The Vines to claim the 2019 pennant.
WA Golf Club has missed out on a rare three-peat by the smallest of margins as the Central Gold Division title was won by Cottesloe GC on a countback.
After five rounds of competition, the two clubs were tied atop the leaderboard on 7-points each. The ladies from Cottesloe were then crowned champions thanks to their superior points differential, despite Yokine finishing the season undefeated. Yokine halved three of their matches and they will be left to wonder what could have been if they had managed to turn just one of these results into a victory.
Gosnells and Royal Fremantle fought out one of the tightest battles in recent memory in the search for the Central Black Pennant.
Gosnells sat atop the leader board heading into the final fixture against Royal Fremantle, who were only two points behind and well within striking distance.
Royal Fremantle dominated this final fixture 3/1 and drew level with Gosnells on seven points. With the result going to a countback, Gosnells clung on to victory by the smallest of margins thanks to a 0.5 points differential in their favour.
Congratulations to all the clubs and ladies that competed during the 2019 Senior Women’s Pennant season.
