MyGolf in Schools wraps up a busy Term 3

20th Sep 2019

It’s been another busy school term for the MyGolf in Schools program presented by Smarter than Smoking. We covered over 1600 kilometres, travelling as far north as Geraldton and East to Brookton, on our journey to give more kids a go at golf.

North Morley Primary School was one of 13 WA metro primary schools lucky enough to have a series of MyGolf in Schools presented by Smarter than Smoking clinics run at their school this term.

North Morley PS Physical Education Teacher, Ben Farrell was excited by the success of the program and the opportunity it gave his students.

Speaking after the first session, Ben said: “We have had Jordan (GolfWA Junior Development Officer) out in previous years to run the MyGolf program and it is always a very well-organised program that the students enjoy.”

The advantage of the program is that it allows schools to strengthen their curriculum with a sport that they ordinarily wouldn’t offer.

“Many of our students don’t get the opportunity to experience golf outside of the school setting so it’s a great chance for them to experience a new sport and develop new skills.”

I would highly recommend the program because it is very well organised, all equipment is provided, and it allows me to include a sport in my program that I wouldn’t be able to otherwise,” Ben said.

Not only does the MyGolf program help foster a new generation of golfers, it also helps to promote important health messages thanks to generous support from Healthway and Smarter than Smoking.

Healthway is a dedicated partner and supporter of the MyGolf in Schools program presented by Smarter than Smoking and GolfWA would like to thank them for their continued support.
