Abbie Teasdale’s stellar year shows no sign of slowing down as the Royal Fremantle golfer eased to victory at the English Women’s Under 25 Open Amateur Strokeplay title at Woburn.
In a memorable season to date, Teasdale won the WA Women’s Amateur and Concord Cup early in the year and also made her Australian international debut at the Women’s Amateur Asia Pacific in March.
Manchester-born, Teasdale (pictured above with men’s champion Mark Stockdale) is no stranger to success on UK soil having won the 2022 English Women’s Amateur Championship at Lindrick last August.
The consistency she is known for was again in evidence as Teasdale fired two rounds of level-par 73. Lying two strokes back overnight, she was ultimately able to pull away from the chasing pack to record a three-stroke victory from England’s Jessica Hall.
Woburn being one of her favourite courses, the win was extra sweet for Teasdale. “I’m so pleased I could win again,” said Teasdale following the final round.
“I knew I had to be careful of the group behind, but when I saw the leaderboard on 15, I had a four-stroke lead and knew that if I could get a good score over the closing holes I would be fine.”
During her UK break, GolfWA High Performance athlete Teasdale has so far finished 19th at The St Rule Trophy at St Andrews and qualified for the knockout match play rounds at the Women’s Amateur Championship, where she was narrowly eliminated in the second round.
She is now back in the top 200 of the World Amateur Golf Rankings and closing in on her previous highest position of 181st.
