Entry is now open for one of the most prestigious events on the WA women’s golfing calendar – the Bowra & O’Dea Women’s Classic.
Taking place at The Western Australian Golf Club from August 28-30, the Women’s Classic comprises three separate tournaments: the 72-Hole Classic; and the 54-Hole Mid-Amateur (for golfers aged 30-54) and Senior Amateur (for golfers aged 50+) championships.
There is a GA handicap limit of 18 for the 72-Hole Classic and 27 for the Mid-Am and Senior Amateur competitions. Full conditions of entry can be found here.
With the 72-Hole Classic routinely attracting top talent from the eastern states, it is one of the most heavily weighted WA events of the year in terms of World Amateur Golf Rankings points.
Inaugurated in 1991, the championship has a proud history with past winners including Major winners Karrie Webb (1993) and Hannah Green (2013), as well as LPGA Tour stalwarts Wendy Doolan (1990) and Sarah Kemp (2002-04).
Royal Fremantle’s Abbie Teasdale (pictured top) won the 72-Hole contest in 2022, with Jodie Benney (Lake Karrinyup) and Sharon Dawson (Denmark CC) claiming the respective Mid-Am and Senior Am titles.
