Local favourite Brett Rumford has surged towards the top of the Nexus Risk WA Open leader board after a strong second round at Cottesloe Golf Club.
Rumford’s round got off to the perfect start with a birdie on the first. Four more birdies followed before a stumble on the par-3 11th that proved to be Rumford’s lone dropped shot of the day.
Easterly winds made for tricky conditions in the morning and the course offered up a different challenge to the one that faced players yesterday.
Despite signing for a round of 5-under (67), Rumford lamented the fact that he left several shots out on course.
Queenslander Chris Wood set the early pace during the morning round.
Teeing off in the second group of the morning, Wood’s round was highlighted by an eagle on the driveable par-4 16th.
Victoria’s Peter Wilson has recorded the best round of the day so far with a scintillating score of 65 (-7).
Wilson’s front nine ended with a bang as he carded five consecutive birdies and an eagle on the par-4 9th hole.
