Joondalup Resort Classic

A host of WA’s most recognisable pro and amateur golfers will headline the field at this month’s Joondalup Resort Classic.

Taking place on the weekend of May 20-21, the Metal West Recycling Joondalup Resort Classic will be contested over 36 holes with the confirmed entrants featuring seasoned hands as well as up-and-coming starlets.

Celebrated European Tour winners Brett Rumford and Scott Strange will be joined by fellow veterans Kim Felton and Scott Barr, while past WA Open champions Hayden Hopewell, Daniel Fox, Braden Becker and Oliver Goss also take the field.

Fresh from being named the PGA Tour of Australasia’s Rookie of the Year, Haydn Barron is likely to be in confident mood, while ex-Joondalup junior Michael Sim will return to defend the title he won in 2022.

A number of WA’s leading male and female amateurs have also earned invites into the field. Homeclub players George Barclay, Lachlan Hall, Tom Addy, Gareth Steyn, Celine Chen, Emma Clouston, Josh Greer and Mia Lawson will all tee up, as will fellow amateurs Josiah Edwards (Gosnells), Ollie Marsh (Wanneroo), Joe Owen (Lake Karrinyup) and Joe Buttress (WAGC).

The first round will be staged on the resort’s Quarry and Lake courses, followed by two loops of the Quarry course on the Sunday. The event is free for spectators to attend, and with an array of pop-up food and drink options set to be available, expect a festival feel alongside some highly competitive golf.
